The sustainability perspective is a central element of the course. An ethological and anthrozoological approach to animal healthcare, focusing on the sick animal’s behaviour and needs is taught through lectures and a compulsory seminar. By means of demonstrations and practical exercises, some of which involve dummies and\/or live animals, students are trained in the following: clipping, aseptic preparation of surgical sites, surgical hand washing and disinfection, gowning and gloving, and cleaning and disinfection of equipment in animal healthcare.","Examination formats":"Approved written and oral examination, approved practical examination and approved participation in compulsory elements. \r\n- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.\r\n\r\n- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.\r\n\r\n- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.\r\n\r\n- For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission.
