To calculate the volume of measured trees, wind felled trees and harvested trees (for which stumps were measured), sample trees and stumps from NFI were used along with model relationships to predict the heights of the trees (Ollas, 1980). Nslunds smaller volume functions for southern Sweden were used to predict the volume of the trees. (Equations 6,7,8; Nslund, M. (1947).
