The course will also increase participant’s knowledge of the academic publishing process and help participants develop their writing style.\n\nThrough the course we will address aspects of scholarly writing relevant for the early stage of the PhD, including both humanistic social sciences as well as quantitative enquiry. The course will provide opportunities to learn about and develop skills at every stage of academic writing, from first ideas to getting published.\n\nThe structure of the course is based on four study blocks which will progressively support the writing process. Each block will include lectures, seminars, group-based and individual workshops, presentations, and critical feedback, follow up writing and preparation.","Examination formats":"- Students must be active in all four blocks of the course, providing feedback and acting as discussants for others work.\n- Students will work on a draft of an article or chapter, which is expected to be part of the thesis. The draft will be submitted and discussed during each block, with a final submission at the end of the course.\n- A final written reflection on the relevance of the different blocks for individual writing process. \r\n- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.\r\n\r\n- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.\r\n\r\n- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.\r\n\r\n- For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission.
