Be able to describe what sperm quality is and to explain the different methods for evaluating it;\n\n2. Have the capacity to explain the methods behind the different assays; to understand the shortcomings of each; to evaluate the relevance of the output from such assays; to determine the suitability of the sample for its intended purpose, taking into account the animal species; to communicate the results of the evaluation to the animal owner.\n\n3. Having acquired or further developed a set of competences, the student will be able to identify particular challenges within andrology and decide how to deal with them; be able to advise others on interpreting the results and the appropriate action to take; be able to contribute to a discussion on development of more appropriate methods of assessment in the future.","Innehåll":"The course covers the following fields: the concept of sperm quality, what it is and why it is needed in different situations; how it is evaluated from basic field laboratory to advanced research setting; how it is used for different species; pitfalls in sperm quality evaluation; how it can be improved in the future. There will be a series of tutor-led lectures, workshops and practical sessions.","Betygsformer":"Kraven för kursens olika betygsgrader framgår av betygskriterier, som ska finnas tillgängliga senast vid kursstart.","Examinationsformer":"Active course attendance and fulfilling criteria for the written assignment. \r\n- Examinatorn har, om det finns skäl och är möjligt, rätt att ge en kompletteringsuppgift till den student som inte blivit godkänd på en examination.\r\n- Om studenten har ett beslut från SLU om riktat pedagogiskt stöd på grund av funktionsnedsättning, kan examinatorn ge ett anpassat prov eller låta studenten genomföra provet på ett alternativt sätt.\r\n- Om denna kursplan läggs ned, ska SLU besluta om övergångsbestämmelser för examination av studenter, som antagits enligt denna kursplan och ännu inte blivit godkända.\r\n- För examination av självständigt arbete (examensarbete) gäller dessutom att examinatorn kan tillåta studenten att göra kompletteringar efter inlämningsdatum.
