Data: Weed seed predation, management and landscape, weed seed availability and community strength of seed predation data from 13 winter wheat fields in Skåne, Southern Sweden. Data are listed in 5 datasets (csv format) with fields separated with [.] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- List of Datasets: (Name--nRows--nCols) 1.seed_predation--390--6 2.seed_availability--390--5 3.management_intensity--13--2 4.habitat_refugia--52--4 5.community_strength_of_seed_predation--390--5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Datasets collection description: 1.Data on weed seed predation were collected by using seed cards. (1.seed_predation.csv) 2.Data on weed seed availability were collected by using suction sampling (2.seed_availability.csv) 3.Data on management intensity data were collected after communicating with the farm management professionals (owner, renter, employed) about the management intensity (3.management_intensity.csv) 4.Data on habitat refugia were extracted through landscape analysis using the program ArcMap(ESRI, v. 10.4.1) (4.habitat_refugia.csv) 5.Data on and carabid community that were used to estimate the community strength of seed predation were collected using pitfall traps. (5.community_strength_of_seed_predation.csv) Sampling took place during June and July 2018. All variables used in each file and content information are described below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Description of the column names/variables in each csv files. - fieldID: Number of the sampled field; 1-13 (in all csv files) - transect code: Sampling transects of the field; a-d (in all csv files except 3.management_intensity.csv) - sampling session: Number of the sampling session; 1 for mid-June and 2 for mid-July (in 1.seed_predation.csv, 2.seed_availability.csv and 5.community_strength_of_seed_predation.csv) - distance number: Distance to field edge in meters; 4/8/16/32 (in 1.seed_predation.csv, 2.seed_availability.csv and 5.community_strength_of_seed_predation.csv) - field management intensity: Number of field visits from the farming professional to perform operations (in 3.management_intensity.csv) - SNH refugia: percentage cover of semi-natural habitat (in 4.habitat_refugia.csv) - crop refugia: percentage cover of arable crops ( in 4.habitat_refugia.csv) - community strength of seed predation: index calculated to approximate carabid community strength of predation per sampling point by combining predator abundance with trait-based metrics of the species-specific likelihood of granivory seed preferences and body-mass related feeding rate (in 5.community_strength_of_seed_predation.csv). The index is given as a whole number. -number of seeds: Number of all weed seeds available on the soil surface collected per each sampling point using suction sampling (in 2.seed_availability.csv) -removed seeds: Number of removed Poa annua seeds from each seed card per sampling point (in 1.seed_predation.csv) -predation rate: Number of removed Poa annua seeds from each seed card divided by the initially 50 offered (in 1.seed_predation.csv)
