The students will get familiar with the concepts of herbage availability and quality in an agricultural landscape.\n\nTeaching and practical exercises will give practical knowledge in how to use scientific tools for estimating and recording herbage intake, feeding behavior and animal performance under grazing conditions.\n\nTeaching will be offered by a mix of SLU researchers and international experts within the subject area.\n\nBy lectures, demonstrations and in field exercises the students will obtain skills in how to perform scientific techniques for herbage characterization and grassland\/sward evaluation including remote sensing methods.\n\nThe course has a field-based syllabus, teaching is offered on site (at a farm environment) in a mixture of lectures, excursions demonstrations and practical exercises.\n\nThe course is divided in three periods (blocks), Block A for practical teaching on site in the nature and on farm and block B, for lectures and modeling in the classroom and Block C for individual task\/projects at home including examination.","Betygsformer":"Kraven för kursens olika betygsgrader framgår av betygskriterier, som ska finnas tillgängliga senast vid kursstart.","Examinationsformer":"The students will present a draft research plan with grazing animals, using the technologies and theories learned at the course. The plan must be sent to the course leader one week prior to examination and subsequently approved. The student will orally present the research plan for students and teachers and get feedback on the design, technologies and evaluation in order to pass the course. Besides the individual project, the practical field exercises and excursions are obligatory, and students shall participate in minimum of 80 percent of the lectures to pass the examination. \r\n- Examinatorn har, om det finns skäl och är möjligt, rätt att ge en kompletteringsuppgift till den student som inte blivit godkänd på en examination.\r\n- Om studenten har ett beslut från SLU om riktat pedagogiskt stöd på grund av funktionsnedsättning, kan examinatorn ge ett anpassat prov eller låta studenten genomföra provet på ett alternativt sätt.\r\n- Om denna kursplan läggs ned, ska SLU besluta om övergångsbestämmelser för examination av studenter, som antagits enligt denna kursplan och ännu inte blivit godkända.\r\n- För examination av självständigt arbete (examensarbete) gäller dessutom att examinatorn kan tillåta studenten att göra kompletteringar efter inlämningsdatum.
