What role do justice and democracy and in particular gender and power have in environmental governance and reaching sustainable development?\n\nThis multidisciplinary course provides students, researchers and others working in these ﬁelds with tools and skills in relation to gender and intersecting dimensions of power that are necessary to be able to understand issues of environments, governance, gender and power in their area of work and to carry out successful research and program development in natural resource management, agriculture and rural development. The course is also open to academics and practitioners working in these ﬁelds.\n\nThe course will:\n\n\n1. introduce you to gender and intersecting dimensions of power in development and environmental governance and their interconnections in multiple contexts and spaces;\n2. provide you with methods and tools for decolonial methodologies in an interconnected world;\n3. allow you to focus on a project in course discussions that is directly related to your research and area of work.","Content":"- Studies of Gender, Nature and Science.\n- Feminist approaches to development and environment.\n- Masculinities\/femininities in development, climate and rightwing politics.\n- Feminist post and decolonial approaches and critical race studies,\n- Gendered and racial states and environments.\n- Gendered citizenship and everyday life.\n- Workshop on research methods on: Encounters in environments under stress: Rethinking methodologies and decolonizing research practices.","Examination formats":"- Participation in work groups and seminars during the course. Some parts of the course will be run as seminars and both the instructor and students will share responsibility for leading the discussions of the readings.\n- Participation in a workshop on methodological encounters towards the end of the course.\n- A hand-in paper and presentation using the course concepts in your own work, preferably written as a journal article. \r\n- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.\r\n\r\n- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.\r\n\r\n- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.\r\n\r\n- For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission.
