The course builds on microeconomic theory applied to production decisions in agriculture and the theoretical knowledge acquired during the PhD s. It introduces key perspectives in applied economic analysis through a range of topics with application to agriculture and with connection to own research contributions.\n\nAfter successfully completing this course students are expected to be able to:\n\n1) Conceptualize and discuss classic and contemporary research in agricultural economics to describe forward-looking research directions and topics in the field. <br>\n2) Relate the topics identified in 1) to own contributions, methodological advances and discuss limitations and research gaps. <br>\n3) Apply relevant theories and conceptual frameworks for analyzing contemporary topics related to agricultural production, off-farm income, agricultural productivity, economies\/diseconomies of scale, knowledge diffusion, spatial spillover effects and impacts of climatic extremes. <br>\n4) Evaluate and interpret their own research contributions in light of theory and empirical evidence in the field.","Innehåll":"Individual instruction seminar at the Department of Economics, approximately 2 hours\n\nOwn work, approximately 138 hours.\n\nIn total, approximately 140 hours.","Betygsformer":"Kraven för kursens olika betygsgrader framgår av betygskriterier, som ska finnas tillgängliga senast vid kursstart.","Examinationsformer":"Write an individual term paper. The paper will be assessed (fail\/pass) based on how comprehensively it describes and discusses the ILOs and to what extent it integrates the student’s own research into the bigger picture of applied agricultural production economics. \r\n- Examinatorn har, om det finns skäl och är möjligt, rätt att ge en kompletteringsuppgift till den student som inte blivit godkänd på en examination.\r\n- Om studenten har ett beslut från SLU om riktat pedagogiskt stöd på grund av funktionsnedsättning, kan examinatorn ge ett anpassat prov eller låta studenten genomföra provet på ett alternativt sätt.\r\n- Om denna kursplan läggs ned, ska SLU besluta om övergångsbestämmelser för examination av studenter, som antagits enligt denna kursplan och ännu inte blivit godkända.\r\n- För examination av självständigt arbete (examensarbete) gäller dessutom att examinatorn kan tillåta studenten att göra kompletteringar efter inlämningsdatum.
